"We had a phenominal year. Year and a half, actually" Said Bobby "BOOM BOOM" Bickerson, Commissioner of the BWC. "We began on 8-8-08, in celebration of the 80th birthday of bubblegum and went on through the end of 2009, so actually we are issuing awards for a year and a half. A year and a half of what has made bubblegum what it is. Gigantic bubbles. The biggest ones ever blown in competition!

As we look back on bubblegum's past, we realize that the elements of sport were always there. Big competition. Big fun. And the dream that blowing big bubbles would one day really mean something. From the smallest local school yard challenge to the biggest worldwide bubble blowing battleground of the BWC one thing has never changed. The shout "I can blow a bigger bubble than you!" And yet, while the idea of bubble blowing as an actual sport was always somewhat close to reality, it just never was really quite there."

You see, to be a sport, there must be a way to hold contests, competitions or games. There has to be a way to score these events. There has to be a way to have gather entrants together, to keep order, and to stay ongoing. There has to be a way to allow great competitors to continue to compete far into the future, and there has to be ways to allow them to do what they do best with as little restriction on them as possible. And there has to be ways to allow the greatest competitors of all to write the history of the sport based on their performances.

Until the beginning of the BWC, those things simply didn't exist in bubblegum. Sure there were contests, sometimes big ones. But they were always pretty much here today and gone tomorrow. A winner would have some fun and maybe win a pretty good prize, but once the glow of winning wore off that was pretty much it. Even the winner of an annual contests could be found to be ineligible to win the following years contest, if entrants were lucky enough to have one. But that's no longer the case. With the BWC you might not win the World Championship this quarter, but you always have the chance to come back the next quarter and blow 'em away!

So now the BWC takes the next step in becoming a real sport with the introduction of it's first Awards Of The Year winners. It's the competitors that make a sport, and it's the best ones that make the stories that form that sports history. So on behalf of Susan Montgomery Williams, Dr. Enaught T. Wiseham and Joyce Samuels, The BOMB Squad, I, Bobby "BOOM BOOM" Bickerson, Commissioner of The BUBBLEGUM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, present the 2010 BWC Awards Of The Year Winners!

We begin with the BWC 2010 Rookie of the Year Award. This award is issued based on the performances of Rookies in the 2009 season. It's reserved for winners of one or more world championships during the year, but since we didn't have a rookie win a world championship, we then followed our tie breaking procedure, which was the most points scored by a rookie for the year. Using this rule and checking the scoreboard we find the 2009 rookies scored points as followed: ccccarly214-54, Bubblefan-61, AG-85, BlazerTheFox-131, DannyMachal.com-142, and Billy Leg-147.5. The BWC declares Billy Leg the BWC 2010 Rookie of the Year!

Our next award is the BWC 2010 GUMpetitor of the Year award. Points scored in the BWC are rewards that combine both participation and performance. The winner of this award is the highest scorer of points in 2009. Our scoreboard shows 2009 points were scored as follows: ccccarly214-54, bubblefan-61, AG-85, BigBadWolf65-100, BritishBubbleQueen-130, BlazerTheFox-131, DannyMachal.com-142, Billy Leg-147.5, Michael 236, The CandySam-245, Stunis-307, BubbleApprentice-320, and BG-367.5. The BWC declares BG the BWC 2010 GUMpetitor of the Year!

Next up is the BWC 2010 Dr. Enaught T. Wiseham Bubble Of The Year Award. Of course the biggest bubble is what the BWC is all about. And this award has been named after BOMB Squad Hero Dr. Enaught T. Wiseham, who is believed to have blown the most incredibly biggest bubble ever blown. And in keeping with that tradition, the BWC is proud to have the biggest bubble blown in competitions. So proud that we began the All Time Largest Bubbles Blown List, a list that now has 35 bubbles on it. The 35 biggest bubbles ever blown in competition. Of course, of all the bubbles ever blown there's no way of saying how many others would be on this list if it were simply the all time biggest bubbles ever blown, but hey. That's the beauty of the BWC. If someone has pictures of themselves blowing bubbles bigger then these, now they have their chance to bring them on down and GUMpete. Anyway, looking on the list we find many bubble blowers with multiple bubbles on it. Bubble Apprentice with 6. Stunnis with 4 and BritishBubbleQueen with 3, to name a few. But of all our competitors, none stands out like the BWC 2010 Bubble OF The Year winner. He has 6 bubbles in the list, and the lowest ranked one is #12. His first and second biggest bubbles are the the two biggest bubbles ever blown in competition. We declare BG the winner of the BWC 2010 Bubble Of The Year!

Our next award has to do with stories. It's stories that tell the story of any sport, and when it comes to unusual and unique bubblegum stories, there is no one in bubblegum history quite like BOMB Squad Hero Joyce Samuels, for who the BWC Joyce Samuels Story Of The Year Award is named. Joyce, who created a GUINNESS World Record for blowing the biggest bubble from the nose and is the only person to ever hold the record, has made a bubblegum story like almost none other. She not only created a new record, but single-handedly opened up a brand new path for future bubble blowers to achieve bubblegum glory, which is one of the most important things The BOMB Squad hopes to accomplish.

The history of the BWC competition so far has seen the domination of the contest by New York City's great BG, with an incredible 5 world championships. But while the man is a simply incredible bubble blower and looks like will be one for a long time to come, it doesn't mean he can't be beat.

That was very nearly shown in the first quarter of 2009 by London's Stunis, who is the blower of the world's most unusual bubbles that we know of. Well, he definitly blew an unusual one for this competiton, a monster that rose up and tied BG for the world championship of that contest.

Finally as time ran out on the year, The BigBadWolf65, a bubbleblower with a storied history that includes the winning of what was probably the biggest, most prestigious bubblegum contest of pre-BWC days came from out of nowhere to beat BG in what was probably the most hotly contested BWC yet. It proved that the best of the BWC can beat, but only with supreme monumental effort.

While this made for an extremely difficult choice, and while the other two mentioned in this story should be rmembered as having contributing mightily, we are pleased to announce the winner of the 2010 Joyce Samuels Story of the Year Award for 2009 goes to Stunis, for three reasons. The first is that his bubblegum bubble art creations are a pretty wild story in themselves. No one in the world that we know of does anything like them, and fans of bubbles really should look at his homepage. The second was, he put all of that aside to blow a seriously big bubble, one that finally broke the championship barrier and showed that a great bubble blower like BG could be successfully challenged. And third, and maybe the biggest reason of all, Stunis, from "accross the pond" in London, showed that the BWC was truly a WORLD championship, as the winners of all other major contests that we know of have been from the United States.

Just as Joyce is one of a kind, The 2010 Joyce Samuels Story of the Year Award will go down in bubblegum history as unique. The reason is is that we are going to make an award for both 2009 and 2008, and this award will be the only one issued for 2008. And with that, we will now issue The 2010 Joyce Samuels Story of the Year Award for 2008.

2008 will be remembered as a very special year in bubblegum history marked by milestones, triumphs and tragedy. I look back at '08 at things I will fondly remember and things I wish never happened. The early part of the year things really began to come together. BUBL had been formed after a famous dispute between future BOMB Squad Heroes Susan Montgomery Williams, Dr. Enaught T. Wiseham and Earl "The Gum Bubble Coach" Hartwell about what really constituted the biggest bubbles. That all came together, along with Joyce Samuels, as The BOMB Squad, which agreed that biggest bubbles could be blown under "three piece" GUINNESS rules or with unlimited amounts of bubblegum.

As this all came together, we all realized that a very significant day was on the horizon. Early August, 2008. The 80th birthday of bubblegum. The time had come for something truly monumental for bubblegum, and the 80th birthday would be the ideal time. After an immense effort 8-8-08 finally arrived, and The BOMB Squad announced the beginning of their dream come true. A way for great bubble blowers to come together and compete against each other worldwide, with very little restricting what they do best. What bubblegum is all about. Blowing the biggest bubbles that can be blown. Eighty years after it had been created, thanks to the world's greatest bubble blowers, the sport of bubblegum bubble blowing had finally truly come into existance, The BUBBLEGUM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP had arrived!

The first quarter of THE BWC that ran from 8-8-08 to 9-30-08 had quite a beginning, middle and end. It featured the celebration of bubblegum's 80th, the beginning of the BWC, a wild and wooly opening quarter that featured BWC's romp to victory with what is still the biggest bubble ever blown in competition, and finally, sadly Susan Montgomery Williams sad, untimely, and ironic death on Oct. 1. The mind that had created the Chewsy Suzy Cinch back in the seventies that laid the groundwork for the greatest career in bubble blowing that has ever existed, the mind that dreamed up the idea that other bubble blowers should be able to live some of the fun she had lived because of bubblegum, died on the very day all the entries had come in for the contest she helped create that would do for bubble blowers exactly that. The mind that had did all that died, ironically, due to a brain anuerism.

The Joyce Samuels Story of the Year award is all about honoring great bubblegum stories, and there are not many stories greater in bubblegum history than the wonderful, chaotic and tragic story of the beginning of the BWC. Therefore, we have decided to award the very special BWC 2010 Joyce Samuels for 2008, the only award the BWC will issue for 2008, to everyone who made the BWC possible along with all who participated in the 3rd Quarter (because that is when the contest started) of 2008. This list includes BWC participants Michael, TheCandySam, Stunis, Bubble Apprentice, SuperstarJTR, Squarepegs99, GatemouthRB, Bigbadwolf65, BritishBubbleQueen, and BG. It also includes The BOMB Squad, "Chewsy Suzy" Susan Montgomery Williams, Dr. Enaught T. Wiseham, former member Earl "The GUM Bubble Coach" Hartwell, Commissioner Bobby "Boom Boom" Bickerson, and finally, the creator of the award herself, "The GUM Blowin' Granny" Joyce Samuels.

And now we come to our final award. Named for our inspiration, the one who dreamed about something like this long ago. The BWC 2010 Susan Montgomery Williams Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award for 2009. This award goes to a person who has influenced bubblegum in a very important and pivotal way. This award requires that the winner must have accomplished something that either ensured the survival or growth of bubblegum, created a change that BOMBlastically changed bubblegum for the better, or have major long term bubble blowing accomplishment.

The winner of the first "Chewsy Suzy" is a man who played an immense role in the creation of the BWC. Indeed if it hadn't been for him it is very likely the BWC wouldn't even exist. Everyone who enjoys the idea of big bubbles should thank this man for his input into the process.

While he is currently retired from bubble blowing as far as we know, there isn't a day goes by that we don't feel his influence. From his assistence to bringing the BWC to life, to the knowledge he imparted to some of the greatest bubble blowers, his presence will be continued to be felt now and far into the future. Whenever you see the name "BWC," this man will always be a big reason it's there.

I, Bobby "BOOM BOOM" Bickerson, commissioner of the BUBBLEGUM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, am proud to announce the winner of the BWC 2010 Susan Montgomery Williams Memorial Lifetime Acheivement Award. A man I and The BOMB Squad worked with intensly to bring the BWC to life. A man who is himself a former BOMB Squad Hero. Earl "The GUM BUBBLE COACH" Hartwell!

I would like to congratulate all the winners, and to thank everybody who has helped make the BWC possible. We have come from nothing to a long ways. We have both done great things and experienced tragedy. I believe the BWC will get better, in fact, we have something shortly on the way that I think will be interesting, and competitors I think will really love. Keep watching, keep competing, and above all, keep blowing those BOMBlastic bubbles!
